Millennium in 2000 as a fully-fledged container
operator in the Republic of Sri Lanka. Since then
SBCL broadened and expanded its operation and

Container Operators between Colombo, its home port,
to Indian Sub-continent, Middle & Far East and have
earned a well deserved reputation for reliability.

The Pivotal port of South
Asia
Located 29km off the southern most point of India,
SriLanka is a transshipment base, capable of serving
both the east and the west.
Colombo is ranked as the best in South Asia capable
of handling cargo and containers. 23 major shipping
lines and 7 feeder services operates out Colombo.
Besides being one of the most economic in the Asian
region, this port is also reputed for its fast
turnaround time. Data interchange facilities, along
with two modern container terminals with state – of
the art technology and control systems have resulted
in efficient service.
The new Queen Elizabeth Terminal (QEQ) will increase
the container handling capacity of containers a
year. There are plans to develop two other ports in
the east of the Island.
